Our Educational Approach
Preparing Children for Academic Success
We are inspired by the HighScope educational philosophy. Children’s interests and choices are the foundation of this approach. Our teachers challenge and expand children’s thinking with diverse materials and nurturing interactions. In all our programs, children engage in active learning—direct, hands-on experiences with people, materials, and ideas.
With the HighScope philosophy, there are four specific goals all children are working toward:
- To learn through active involvement with people, materials, events, and ideas.
- To become responsible and confident—ready for school and ready for life.
- To learn to plan many of their own activities, carry them out, and talk with others about what they have done and what they have learned.
- To gain knowledge and skills in important academic, social, and physical areas.
In order to meet these goals, children participate in a robust Plan-Do-Review process that promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills. We provide a strong focus on early literacy, social understanding, physical coordination, creativity, and positive character traits. Our curriculum and teachers bring the HighScope approach to life in each classroom.
